Fixed-Fee Probate Application Support
- Submit the grant of probate application on your behalf.
Our Grant of Probate Application service is ideal for Bristol executors who are confident handling the estate administration themselves but want a regulated specialist to prepare and submit the probate application correctly first time. From £595, it's a fraction of the percentage-based fees most high-street solicitors charge — and avoids the most common cause of probate delays, which is rejection of incorrectly completed forms.
We handle the full HMCTS Probate Service application: identifying the correct probate route (PA1P with a will, PA1A without), preparing and submitting the IHT205 / IHT400 inheritance tax forms (depending on estate value), and liaising directly with the Bristol District Probate Registry until the grant is issued. Typical turnaround from instruction to grant is 12–16 weeks, in line with current HMCTS processing times.
Once the grant is issued, you'll handle the rest yourself: contacting banks, building societies and pension providers to release funds, settling debts and final bills, selling or transferring property, preparing estate accounts, and distributing to beneficiaries. If at any stage you'd prefer us to take over, you can upgrade to Our Complete Probate Service and we'll credit the £595 against the new fee.
Extra costs: HMCTS probate registry fee of £300, and copies of the grant at £1.50 each (most estates need 3–6 copies — one per asset-holder). All third-party fees are disclosed upfront. Free initial consultations are available at our Henleaze office (BS9), by video call, or at home across Bristol and the South West.
